All workshops can be delivered as a 1 or 2-day session and as a closed group (i.e. individual organization) or as an open group (i.e., various organizations & the public) . Pricing is available upon request.

This workshop focuses on wellness, resilience, and supporting healthy attitudes and behaviours in the workplace, as well as in all areas of one’s life. It engages participants to take responsibility for their own wellbeing by calling upon them to take an honest look at how they are showing up in their lives and to consider why they do what they do, and whether it is truly working for them. Participants leave this workshop with a whole new awareness of themselves and a commitment to making positive changes, both in their personal and professional lives.
 

Specifically, you will:

  • Reflect on what’s working and not working in your personal and professional life

  • Take charge of your own wellness and avoid burnout

  • Find out how you’re contributing to your own stress

  • Discard negativity, gossip and shift away from unhealthy thoughts, perceptions and behaviours

  • Develop a profound self-awareness and understanding of how unresolved issues may be affecting you and showing up in your work with clients and colleagues

This workshop is not your typical stress management workshop. You will not learn redundant concepts such as job analysis, time management, delegation, or activity logs. Lateral kindness promotes social harmony. Lateral violence also referred to as lateral “unkindness,” is expressed through gossip, verbal and physical assaults, passive-aggressive behaviors, blaming, shaming, attempts to isolate others socially, demeaning activities, bullying, and threatening or intimidating behaviour.

Lateral kindness is based on values that promote social harmony and healthy relationships. Lateral kindness is about respect, fairness, and the importance of relationships to create an environment built on a foundation of kindness. Lateral kindness focuses on celebrating and supporting positive behaviours and giving power back to each other.

In our experience, this is the key to achieving the individual and cultural transformation necessary to break out of the vicious cycles behind most of our recurring and consistent challenges and open new possibilities for the future.

Lateral kindness can repair the harmful effects on our mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. We can create a safer, more inclusive workplace and community by shifting the cultural norms. The community will be able to gather a new set of values and begin building personal skills that will transform the community.  

M. Thorpe & Associates introduces the Lateral Kindness Workshop to open the space for conversation and discuss the challenges stopping individuals from treating each other with kindness and supporting each other. The goal is to build a solid commitment to integrity and to begin laying the foundation for a thriving organization.
